An employee-owned Company based at The Mountview Hotel in Nethy Bridge, we sell guided wildlife/birdwatching holidays in Scotland and around the world. Heatherlea hold five stars from VisitScotland for our ‘Wildlife Experience’, and operate overseas under our own ATOL Licence.

FIELD GUIDES
Have you got what it takes to be a Heatherlea Guide? We are one of the UK’s leading wildlife holiday providers, organising tours in Scotland and throughout the world. We are now looking for experienced birders and naturalists to join our top Guiding Team.

As well as being an expert birder, the successful applicant(s) will be a natural organiser and communicator. A good sense of humour and positive outlook are essential qualities! As well as organising, managing and leading tours, applicants also need to be comfortable driving a 9-seater minibus.

As a Heatherlea Guide, you will travel widely throughout Scotland and in due course might expect to visit iconic destinations around the world.

OPERATIONS MANAGER F/T

This is an important position, where the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of company organisation and administration, including overseeing customer orders and fulfilment, managing ground services for UK and overseas tours, updating our website and social media pages, and hotel management responsibilities.

The role is office-based, liaising daily with clients by phone and email, and with hotels, airlines, local ground operators, tour leaders and other suppliers. This is a rewarding full-time position. Starting salary dependant on knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in all aspects of company organisation and administration, including;

  • Responsibility for overseeing customer orders and fulfilment, including invoicing, issuing of holiday materials, collecting and processing payments, advising and helping clients with travel plans according to their needs, and post-holiday liaison.
  • Providing an exceptional level of client care at all stages of the sales process
  • Liaising with external hotels and guides, ferry companies, ground agents and airlines to ensure all customer information is confirmed for individual holidays in the UK and overseas. Confirmation of reservations and cancellation of provisional arrangements.
  • Responsibility, in conjunction with the General Manager, of inputting data for monthly and annual reports (Xero), plus additional work where required.
  • Responsibility, in conjunction with the General Manager, in hotel management matters as required.
  • Involvement in promotional materials including web page production, literature production and marketing.
  • Updating our website pages and holiday information packs as required. Updating social media pages as required (Twitter/Facebook)
  • Involvement in origination of new holidays both home and overseas. Dealing with ground agents, hotels and guides to construct profit-making products for launch.
  • Contributing to the development of operational systems, business process and organisational planning.

Essential Skills, Competencies and Experience
 

  • Minimum of two year’s experience in a similar role. Knowledge of the travel and tourism industry would be an advantage, though consideration will also be given to candidates who work in other industries but can clearly demonstrate transferable skills.
  • Meticulous administration skills, attention to detail, accuracy, common sense, good literacy and numeracy skills, a confident telephone manner, and motivation within a busy office.
  • Wide-ranging computer skills.

OPERATIONS CO-ORDINATOR F/T

This is an important position, where the successful applicant will be responsible for dealing with customer orders and fulfilment to ensure a smooth, efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of our clients.

The role is office-based, liaising daily with clients by phone and email, and with hotels, airlines, local ground operators, tour leaders and other suppliers. This is a rewarding full time position with the opportunity for progression for the right candidate. Starting salary £21k – £25k dependant on knowledge and experience.

Working hours 09:00 – 17:30

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be involved in all aspects of holiday organisation and administration, including;
  • Dealing with customer bookings and fulfilment, including invoicing, issuing of holiday materials, collecting and processing payments, advising and helping clients with travel plans according to their needs, and post-holiday liaison.
  • Liaising with external hotels and guides, ferry companies, ground agents and airlines in the UK and overseas.
  • Involvement in web page, social media and literature production.
  • Involvement in origination of new holidays both home and overseas. Dealing with ground agents, hotels and guides to construct profit-making products for launch.

Essential Skills, Competencies and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 years experience in a tourism or tour operator related role. Consideration will also be given to candidates who work in other industries but can clearly demonstrate transferable skills.
  • Wide-ranging IT skills, including a proficiency in MS Office.
  •  
  • Meticulous administration skills. Close attention to detail with highly developed literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Confident telephone manner.
  • An interest in travel and wildlife would be preferable, though not essential.
